Coucou Gris

Cornet Obolensky WBFSH Rank 1

Coucou Gris’s dam line is among the absolute elite in show jumping. As a Javotte-D line (No. 105) in the Selle Français stud book, it has consistently produced horses for 5* Grand Prix competition for generations—a track record that runs deep.
Right in the middle of it all: Italia de Champloue (by Casall)—3-year-old champion and best mare in France, now successful up to 1.45 m. Her family also performs at the highest level: Her half-brother Hurricane de Champloue (by Cornet Obolensky) became French champion in 2022 and is now successfully competed internationally by Bertram Allen.

The second dam, Toscane de Champloue (by Diamant de Semilly), was herself a successful competition horse and is a proven broodmare. Her son, Empoli de Champloue (alias Tipperary), performed impressively at the 5* level up to 1.60 m under Bertram Allen and Cian O’Connor, winning the Riyadh Grand Prix, among other competitions. Other offspring are also successful on the international show jumping circuit.

Behind her stands Sophie du Chateau, one of the most influential mares in French breeding. Through her sire, Galoubet A, she carries world-class genetics—a cornerstone of modern show jumping to this day. Itot du Chateau, who set international standards under Edwina Tops-Alexander—with numerous Grand Prix victories, successes in the Global Champions Tour, and appearances at the Olympic Games and World Equestrian Games—also hails from this line.
